Between 2 years 6 months, and 3 years of age, children experience an incredible leap in their development. They are learning new words daily, exploring independence, and mastering motor skills that lay the foundation for school readiness. But how do you know if your child is on the right path?

Typical Developmental Milestones (21⁄2–3 Years):
- Language: Uses 3–4-word sentences, asks lots of questions, names objects and people.
- Motor Skills: Climbs well, kicks a ball, begins to pedal a tricycle.
- Social/Emotional: Shows a wide range of emotions, starts to play with other children.
- Cognitive: Begins to sort objects by shape and colour, completes simple puzzles.
Red Flags to Watch Out For:
- Not speaking in short phrases, or has very limited vocabulary
- Struggles to follow simple instructions
- Poor eye contact or limited interest in playing with others
- Frequent falls or trouble with basic movements like climbing
- Intense tantrums beyond what is typical

Why Early Assessment Matters

If you have any concerns about your child’s development, early assessment is essential. Identifying challenges at this stage allows for timely support and tailored interventions, helping children reach their full potential in both development and learning. Our Educational Psychologists are here to guide you through this process with care and expertise.
